Li River Mountains
The Mountains along the Li River
Li River mountains add more charm to the Li River around the year. When it is at late March and early April, fog and the mountains along the Li River make for an amazing fairy land to admire.
The source of the Li River, Cat Mountain (Mao’er Mountain) is one of the favourite mountains among locals and domestic Chinese tourists who are interested to appreciate the sunrise and the cloud sea. The mountain is located around 3 hours ride from the hear of Guilin City. |
The Li River Cruise is the #1 Activity in Guilin!
The Li River is decorated with karst hills/mountains on either side. Flowing through the City of Guilin, the Li River neighbors with several well-know mountains for hundreds of years, witnessing the development of the city. The mountains are Fubo Hill, Elephant Trunk Hill, Diecai Hill, and Yu Hill. On the top of the Fubo Hill, visitors can enjoy the panoramic views of the whole city while the Elephant Trunk Hill is one of the old landmarks in Guilin.
Mopanshan Hill near the departure point of the 3-star Li River Cruise features stunning sunrise. Xianggong Hill in the Yangshuo Countryside is one of the mountains near the Li River offering good spots to photographing the sunrise. Compared to Mopanshan Hill, Xianggong Hill is very crowded with tourists. |
Nine-horse Fresco Hill is one of the well-known karst mountains/hills along the Li River. The frescoes of the nine horses on the wall facing the river are one of the highlights as well. Laozhai Mountain in Xingping Old Town is endowed with the gorgeous sunset as well as sunrise. But it is very dangerous to hike the mountain as the road on the mountain is underdeveloped.
The sunset adds more attractions to the karst mountains and the Reflection of Yellow Cloth Shoal opposite to the Xingping Pier. The Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo will take you to see hundreds of karst mountains/hills along the river during 4 hours cruise. Alternatively, you could hike or ride a bike along the Li River to view the mountains at a close range. You may hear birds singing en-route. |
