Tourism along the Li River

Since the 1970s, the Li River has impressed thousands of visitors to Guilin with its own beauty. Karst scenery along the river and local cormorant fishing are the highlights of the river. Li River tourism is developing better and richer through the hardwork of the local government and local people. As at 12th September 2020, there are several modes of Li River tourism to enjoy.
The Li River cruise big boat will take visitors from Guilin pier which is 30 kilometers southeast of the center of Guilin City in the morning. Visitors can choose which type to take from the 3 types of big boats on the Li River - the 3-star, 4-star and 4.5-star boats. The 3-star and 4-star boats are a daily operation while the 4.5-star boat just run on schedule as there is only one 4.5-star boat on the Li River for now. The big boats are for all ages with any conditions. |

Private Li River Motorized Raft
|
The Private Li River Motorized Raft provides enough privacy. One raft can just take 4 passengers. If you wouldn’t like to enjoy one raft with strangers, you’d need to charter the raft. The raft offers the karst landscape between Yangdi and Nine-horse Fresco Hill. In addition, you could take the raft from Xingping to Nine-horse Fresco Hill and back to Xingping. However, children under 1.2m tall (1.2m tall not included), pregnant women and the elder above 70 years old (70 years old included) are not permitted to take the private Li River motorized raft.

Li River HikeThe Li River hike is one popular part of the Li River tourism in Yangshuo. If you don’t have enough time, it is suggested that you hike along the section of the Li River near the West Street in Yangshuo. The hiking route close to Xingping is also one of the popular hiking routes.

Li River Sunrise and Sunset Photography Tour
|
Li River sunrise and sunset photography tour is becoming more and more popular. Yangshuo Bridge is one of the points for Li River sunrise. Xianggong Hill is ranked the No. 1 point but it is always crowded with photographers who want to photograph the amazing sunrise at the viewpoints on the top of the hill. If you would like to admire the Li River sunrise in a quieter surrounding, it is recommended that you go to the spot near Yangdi. The great spot for the Li River sunset is at the viewpoint of the Reflection of Yellow Cloth Shoal.

Li River CyclingThe Li River and its surrounding banks as well as pathways are also good for cycling. Ride a bicycle along the river and you’ll be able to enjoy birds’ singing. In spring and autumn, the bank of the river is dotted with wild colorful flowers as well. These flowers and the karst hills along the river make for a great feast for eyes.
